Straiton Commercial Centre - Public consultation

Welcome to the public consultation for Lansdowne Investments Limited proposed development at Straiton Commercial Centre.

It is proposed to extend the existing Straiton Commercial

Centre to add about 4 large retail units (to suit e.g. hardware store, home furnishings, a discount variety store, etc) but which may include the following uses,  Class 1A (shops, financial and other services), Class 3 (food and drink), Class 11 (assembly and leisure) and Class 4 (business).

The site location is shown below and is between the A701 and Niven’s Knowe Road, adjacent to the Asda Superstore.

At Lansdowne Investments we want to hear your feedback, comments and opinions before we submit a planning application to Midlothian Council. On this website you can find out more about the proposed development and share your thoughts on the proposals.

A Proposal of Application Notice (PAN) was submitted to Midlothian Council on Monday 19th February 2024. This starts a minimum 12 week consultation period for the proposed development, which will include two public events in which we would be delighted if you could spare the time to attend, have a look at what we are proposing, and give your feedback which will help us finalise the proposal before we submit a planning application to the Council.

Public Consultation Details
A second and final Public Consultation Event will then be held on Monday 22nd April 2024, from 3:30pm—6:30pm at Loanhead Leisure Centre (George Avenue, EH20 9LA)

There will be a series of information boards displayed at the event outlining the proposals, with representatives of Lansdowne Investments in attendance to discuss the proposals in more detail and answer any questions that you may have. The event will provide feedback to members of the public in respect of comments received by the Applicant as regards the proposed development.

Information on our proposals can also be viewed on this website via the ‘Proposals’ tab after each consultation event has taken place.

Further information relating to the proposed development may be obtained from Calton Planning + Development, by contacting David Marwick on 0131 510 1627 or by email at david@caltonplanning.co.uk

Any comments made to the Applicant are not representations to the Planning Authority. If a planning application is subsequently submitted by the Applicant to Midlothian Council, normal neighbour notification and publicity will be undertaken, and you will have the opportunity to make formal representations regarding the proposal at that time.
